From Building Strong Foundations to IB MYP Grade 5: Alzainah’s Journey

The Challenge

When Alzainah joined Mentor Match, she was finding Mathematics challenging in several areas. She needed stronger foundational understanding, greater confidence, and more support in applying concepts to unfamiliar questions. Accuracy and consistency were also areas that required attention, particularly when approaching exam-style problems.

The Approach

Developing exam technique. As her conceptual understanding improved, greater emphasis was placed on exam-style questions, accuracy, speed, and understanding how to approach questions effectively.

Alzainah progressed from IB MYP Grade 4 to Grade 5, reflecting stronger conceptual understanding, improved problem-solving ability, greater confidence, and more independent learning.

Her progress was supported by consistent practice, personalised teaching, regular revision, exam-focused preparation, and collaboration between the student, tutor, and parent.
