When Nazar joined Mentor Match, he was struggling with some of the basic concepts in Mathematics and lacked confidence in solving questions independently.
The challenge wasn't simply understanding the concepts. Nazar also needed to develop the confidence to apply what he knew, work through problems step by step, and trust his own reasoning.
The focus was therefore on strengthening his fundamentals first and gradually helping him become a more independent problem-solver.
Nazar's learning followed a structured approach focused on building strong foundations, practising consistently, and gradually developing independence.
Strengthening fundamentals. Nazar worked on building a clear understanding of basic Mathematics concepts through simple explanations and examples.
Step-by-step guidance. Complex problems were broken down into smaller steps, helping him understand not only what to do, but why each step was necessary.
Regular practice. Consistent practice exposed Nazar to different types of questions and helped him become more comfortable applying concepts.
Building independence. As his understanding improved, the level of guidance was gradually reduced. Nazar was encouraged to attempt more questions independently and take greater ownership of his solutions.
Building confidence. Positive reinforcement encouraged him to ask questions, attempt challenging problems, and learn from mistakes rather than being afraid of getting an answer wrong.
Nazar has made strong progress in Mathematics and has become significantly more confident in solving questions independently.
His school currently places him at Grade 7 level in Mathematics, noting that he has developed a secure understanding of key areas including number skills, fractions, algebra, sequences, and graphs. He is also becoming increasingly confident in making connections between different topics.
For his parents, one of the most meaningful changes has been seeing Nazar become more confident in his own ability to solve problems.

Nazar's progress came from consistently working on the basics while gradually challenging himself to become more independent.
Nazar is continuing to build his independence in Mathematics and develop his ability to explain his reasoning in greater detail.
His journey shows that when strong fundamentals are combined with consistent practice, patient guidance, and confidence-building, students can move from needing support to trusting their own ability to solve problems.
